The Eastchester Police Department issued an alert this week regarding the scam, which includes a caller stating they are from Medicare, claiming that the homeowner is entitled to knee braces through the insurance program.

Police said that the caller will ask for the last four digits of the homeowner’s social security number and other identifying information. Investigators said that the scammers have been largely targeting the elderly community.

“Do not give them any information, as this is another attempt to scam our elderly population,” police said. “Anyone receiving such calls should hang up and contact their local police departments at their non-emergency numbers.”
